Dr. Chinchu C

Dr. Chinchu C. is an Assistant Professor at the Centre for Women’s Studies at Pondicherry University. He is also a Psychologist, Research Consultant, Podcaster, and Writer. He has been a recipient of the Researchers in the Global South award and the Small Scale Events grant from the Society for the Psychological Study of Social Issues (SPSSI) in 2022, and the SIPS Commendation award from the Society for the Improvement of Psychological Science (SIPS) in 2023. He has been a winner in the global paper competition sponsored by UNESCO, UN MGCY and the Journal of Science Policy and Governance (JSPG). His research interests lie in Mental Health, Gender, Sexuality, Sustainable Development, and Open Science. He has journal publications, book chapters, and popular writings in diverse areas to his credit. He has undertaken research projects funded by national and international agencies in the areas of rehabilitation, education, marginalisation, skill development etc. He is a peer reviewer for international journals and publishers as well. He has conducted national-level workshops and Faculty Development Programmes (FDP) and has handled academic and professional training on topics including research methodology and mental health. A member of professional bodies including the American Psychological Association (APA), the Indian Association for Women’s Studies (IAWS), and the Society for the Improvement of Psychological Science (SIPS), he is also associated with the People’s Science Movement. He is active in mental health advocacy and translational research via non-profit collectives. He creates content such as podcasts and videos for public education and is also engaged in the promotion of best practices and ethical conduct of social science research. He has acquired a post-doctoral fellowship in women’s studies, a Ph.D. in psychology, and PG degrees in applied psychology and sociology. He has qualified UGC NET in Psychology, Sociology, Women Studies, Criminology, Education, Comparative Study of Religions, and Human Resource Management, with JRF qualification in Psychology and Women Studies.
